Hinckley United are one of a select band of clubs who thoughtfully play their midweek matches on a Monday evening! Other clubs such as Hitchin Town, Beaconsfield SYCOB, Aveley, Romulus and others give a choice of Monday night football within reasonable distance. SADLY for hinckley, their entrepreneurial choice of match night did not provide an accompanying suitable result! They were well and truly thrashed on the night by a strong Altrincham side who should have scored much earlier than the three they scored around the half time interval. The Atly contingent of supporters made lots of noise throughout the match and were the sole providers of what “atmosphere” there was! I like going to Hinckley because they are a friendly bunch and there is a good bar and snacks, but I think I will be going to see them in The Evo-Stik Southern League next season! Considering their lowly position, a crowd of 434 was pretty good and certainly the highest I’ve seen at The Greene King Stadium this season! Next up it is Luton Town who visit on Saturday in The FA Trophy 2nd Round. On the evidence of this match………………The Knitters will be massacred, but stranger things have happened!
Next match is this evening’s encounter at Chestnut Avenue, Dogsthorpe, Eye, for a Northants Senior (Hillier) Cup Quarter final tie.
